The Final Finish

By creating a professional website, students can show their future employers their past work, and why they would be qualified for a job. The website is like a visual resume, showing links to actual blog posts, photographs, and recorded content. After graduating from college, students can have their website address in their resume, so when they apply for a job, employers can pull it up to see actual content from the students. The website is for professional use only, which will show a professional, appropriate photo of yourself, and it will link to professional social media accounts. Employers who would want to see what the students are like and get to know their character in a way can use the websites. For an example, a student who is into creating their own graphics can post their own images onto the site for the public to see their work. Another example is having a journalism student posting their news stories onto their site, for future employers to look at. The website can also make a good image for yourself if its professional and clean.
Creating a professional Twitter is very important and also helpful to have for own self. On a professional Twitter account, you should follow interesting accounts such as organizations, people and businesses. You should follow people you wouldn’t normally follow because you are then opening up your horizons and learning more about different views and aspects. You can reach out to organizations and people to either place your opinion or give a fact or question. It’s important to have your social media accounts linked to your website to show future employers you are active on social media and understand it. Today in the job field, especially for journalism, it’s a plus to organizations if you know how to interact on social media because everyone uses social media. Employers can see what you tweet and write about day-to-day, to get to know how you act on social media and if your tweets are valuable to the public.

Designing a website is exciting yet challenging, but in the end, it is worth it for your future self. To set up a website, you have to launch it through Adobe Dreamweaver and build it from that software. From the beginning, it’s so important to organize all your web files folder and site folders separately to have a clear path to put on your site. The more organized your files are, the better. It can get confusing building your site and you have too many folders, or content is put in the wrong folders. It is also important to keep your website clean of any errors or flashy fonts and colors. You have to make your website stand out and unique for yourself, but to still keep it professional. It is challenging to use the software and to play around with the coding, but if you do it step by step and cautiously, your website can turn into a great success and will be useful for your future self.
