The Timeline of the World Wide Web

The World Wide Web Is Like a Chameleon Changing Colors

The World Web started off as Web 1.0 and then into Web 2.0. Even though the Web changed from 1.0 to 2.0, there is a huge difference between the two. Web 2.0 is what we are using today and will continue to use it for a while. Web 2.0 is anything from looking something up on the internet, online shopping and social media. It allows me to look at my Facebook account and post a video on my friend’s wall. Web 2.0 allows people to easily contact and interact with each other, and maintain relationships from all over the world. Everyone gets to post about their opinion and look up whatever they desire. Web 3.0 is an updated Web 2.0 with a more advanced way of looking up data. Instead of trying to find, for example, “Boots” online in the Google Search engine, it will make you narrow the search by saying, tan colored low heel booties from wherever. When I look up results in Google, it gives me millions of pages to choose from, but with Web 3.0 my results are narrowed down to what I actually want to find. I do believe Web 2.0 has lived up to hype when it grew out of 1.0, because it has offered more opportunities for people to get their words out there. 2.0 has offered many people to create their own blogs such as this one. Freelance journalism became a thing because of 2.0 along with social media. People can now put out their own content for the whole world to see, and people can get instant feedback from others. I can comment on people's YouTube videos and voice my opinion. Of course it’s a way to bring other people down, have you seen YouTube comments on videos... yikes! 2.0 has networked people from all over together. Users on the internet can now connect and make relations with multiple people on the Web. Social media allows people to post about their own lives and comment on others. Ever wonder about the life of Miley Cyrus? Just follow her on Instagram and you can view, “like” and comment on her photos. It's so easy for people to gather information on 1.0 and 2.0, but in 2.0 people can give back information as well. On 1.0 people could only look at their screen and take in information only. With 2.0 people can interact with the internet and have their voices heard. I believe the change from 2.0 is a positive action because it allows more freedom to the people. It’s so easy to look up something you need to find on the internet and look up reviews on that product, or recipe. I think Web 3.0 is going to be a whole different ball game because of the advanced searching. It will allow us to skip over information we don't need which is good, but a lot of people’s content, if it’s broad won’t get searched or reviewed. Web 3.0 will do all the dirty work for us which will only make us even lazier! I think we have it so good with 2.0 and by advancing to 3.0 will only make us more impatient with instant information.
The Changing World Wide Web

The World Wide Web has changed into three different stages, Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and then into Web 3.0. All three stages are very much different from each other and have evolved so quickly. Web 1.0 is the first World Wide Web and it’s a way to look up and gather information. According to howstuffworks.com, Web 1.0 is static. It is stated that, "They contain information that might be useful, but there’s no reason for a visitor to return to the site later." A webpage in a 1.0 stays the same and it never changes, therefore it doesn't update at all. With Web 1.0, visitors can on visit the sites and can’t interact with them at all. Unlike the Web now, in Web 1.0, you could not click on links on websites that takes you to another site. The webpage was one website that you can only look at and not interact with. Web 2.0 is a giant step from Web 1.0 in which it functions with user’s involvement. Web 2.0 enables users to comment and interact with the Web such as commenting on a Wikipedia page, or sharing a tweet on Twitter. People come back to the same websites to interact, unlike websites in 1.0. People using Web 2.0 can share content with one another and can network with people from all over the world. According to Whatis.com, Web 2.0 allows people to voice their opinions. The article stated, "Websites that enable users to contribute, collaborate and edit site content. Wikipedia is one of the oldest and best-known wiki-based sites." Wikipedia is a page in which people can look up information and also add to that page of information. Social media is a big part to Web 2.0. It allows people to connect with one another though Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many more platforms. People can now meet on the internet and make relationships out of them. Web 2.0 is very interactive and it involves a lot of networking. Web 3.0 is a step up from 2.0 and is very much different from the other two versions of the Web. In Web 3.0, the search engines are more advanced in which instead of getting broad results, users will get specific results to what they are searching for. According to howstuffworks.com, web 3.0 will make results simpler and easier. The article says, "Instead of multiple searches, you might type a complex sentence or two in your Web 3.0 browser, and the Web will do the rest." When users look up certain information on their browser, the computer will remember what you looked up and will show you stuff that is similar to what you looked up. The browser will mention things, or places you would like and will act like your very own personal assistant.
All three Web versions are very much different, but they all are contributed into making the newest World Wide Web.
